Nikola Motor Co. showed off its first electric UTV in a video released Monday, and it has already garnered more than 40,000 views.
The video features a vaguely The Fast & The Furious vibe, wherein an UTV drag race between two gas-based UTVs and the Nikola NZT face off in a semi-arid terrain. The two gas-guzzling UTVs speed off far ahead of the Nikola NZT while the driver calmly makes a few adjustments to a digital console before driving off and surpassing the two others like an UTV version of Secretariat at the 1973 Preakness.
The NZT, now in the lead, drives over rugged hills and twists and turns through canyons and mesas (the driver even takes a quick bathroom break to highlight just how far ahead of the other two UTVs he is), before arriving at the starting line and facing off with a pickup truck.
The UTV features 590 direct drive horsepower, and 722 ft. pounds of instant torque, and 90- to 150-mile range, according to the company.
“The most sophisticated drive-line in the industry, with enhanced safety features and supercar acceleration,” according to the video description. The NZT begins at $28,900.
