National Powersports Auction has opened an auction facility in Sacramento, Calif., Chief Operating Officer Jim Woodruff told Powersports Finance.
NPA’s seventh location opened Feb. 1 and is currently receiving and processing units. The facility will hold its first auction on March 14.
NPA had been eyeing that part of the country for “some time” and wanted to expand its presence in California, which is No. 1 in motorcycle registrations and transaction volume, Woodruff explained.
“We’re nearing capacity at our San Diego location, and there’s a ton of opportunity up in northern California,” Woodruff added. “The other thing that was important with Sacramento is it’s essentially a gateway to the Pacific Northwest. We have a lot of dealers and clients up in that region, but it’s difficult for them to fully take advantage of what NPA offers. With a facility in Sacramento, it’s going to be a lot easier for them to buy and sell vehicles.”
NPA scouts prospective locations based on factors that include repo, transaction, and vehicle registration volume in the area. The auction company also looks at where its registered dealers are located. NPA takes that information to pinpoint suitable areas or ones that could grow into opportunities.
NPA’s other auction houses are located in San Diego, Philadelphia, Dallas, Cincinnati, Atlanta, and Madison, Wis.
